  6. Here, add OLD to the folder name. It restricts QB from opening when you reinstall it. 
  7. Now, reinstall QB Desktop as given in the steps above. 

If any error message appears while you try to rename folders:

  1. Right-click the Windows Task Bar, and choose the Task Manager option. 
  2. Head to the Processes tab. 
  3. Hit the Name column header to arrange the list. 
  4. Choose the following processes and hit the End processes button for all: QBDBMgrN.exe, QBDBMgr.exe, QBCFMonitorService.exe, QBW32.exe. 
  5. Choose Yes if the message “WARNING: Terminating a process can cause undesired results…” appears.

QuickBooks might not work properly if the Microsoft .NET framework is damaged or corrupted. So, repair it as follows:

Windows 10 and newer

  1. Get rid of all the programs running in the background of your system.
  2. Go to the Start menu, type Control panel, and enter to open the Control Panel window.
  3. Hit the Programs and Features option.
  4. Choose to uninstall a program without worrying about uninstalling anything.

If the .NET Framework 4.5 or later box is already checked beforehand:
  1. Hit the checkbox that turns off .NET Framework 4.5 or later and doesn’t turn it back on yet. 
  2. Hit OK to apply the changes and save them and then reboot your device.
  3. After signing in back to the Windows, execute the steps to turn on .NET Framework 4.5 again. 

Verify .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

If this checkbox isn’t checked, do as follows:
  1. Turn on .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 after ticking the checkbox. 
  2. Apply to save the changes by clicking OK and rebooting your device. 
If this checkbox is checked already, you can do as follows:
  1. Begin by turning off .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 without turning it on. 
  2. Hit OK and save the changes, and reboot to enforce it.
  3. After signing back to the Windows, turn the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 again.
